Panama City, FL – 3 Children Seriously Injured in Crash at Hwy 98 & Everitt Ave
Panama City, FL (January 30, 2026) – Three young children suffered serious injuries after a crash involving two vehicles on Thursday, January 29, in Panama City. The accident happened shortly after 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 98 and Everitt Avenue, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said an SUV with two occupants, a 44-year-old man and a 5-month-old infant, was stopped in the median along Highway 98. At the same time, a sedan carrying four people traveled eastbound on the highway.
The sedan’s occupants included a 39-year-old woman and three children, ages 3, 4, and 2, all from Panama City.
Investigators reported that the SUV entered the sedan’s lane and struck it. The impact sent the sedan moving southeast, where it continued toward the intersection and crashed into a wooden power pole nearby. The force of the crash caused severe injuries to the children riding in the sedan.
All three children suffered serious injuries, according to troopers. One child was thrown from the vehicle during the crash. Emergency units responded quickly and provided medical care before taking the injured children to receive further treatment.
Officials have not released updates on their current conditions.
The driver and infant passenger in the SUV did not suffer injuries. Authorities confirmed they remained unharmed following the accident.
Investigators continued reviewing how the SUV entered the lane. The investigation remains active.
Our hearts remain with the injured children and their loved ones as they continue receiving care and support during recovery.
How Florida Law Handles Child Injury Claims After a Crash
Because minors cannot file legal claims on their own, a parent or guardian typically acts on their behalf. The process may also involve additional court oversight to ensure any settlement serves the child’s long-term needs.
In accidents involving young passengers, medical documentation plays an especially important role. Children may require emergency treatment, follow-up care, and ongoing monitoring as they grow.
Keeping records of hospital visits, therapy plans, and related expenses helps create a clear picture of the harm caused by the crash.
Florida law also treats compensation for minors differently in many cases. Courts may review agreements involving serious injuries, and funds may be structured to remain available for the child’s future care.
Families may need guidance on how medical bills, insurance communication, and long-term recovery needs fit into the claims process.
Parents may also face practical concerns after a serious accident, including missed work, added caregiving responsibilities, and uncertainty about future treatment.
