Panama City Beach, FL – Pedestrian Struck and Killed on US-98 near Chip Seal Pkwy
Panama City Beach, FL (December 22, 2025) – A pedestrian lost his life Saturday evening, December 20, after being struck by a pickup truck along a busy roadway in Panama City Beach, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The fatal incident occurred just after 6:00 p.m. on U.S. Highway 98, also known as Panama City Beach Parkway, east of Chip Seal Parkway.
Troopers reported that a white 2006 Dodge Dakota pickup truck was traveling westbound in the outside lane of Highway 98. At the same time, a pedestrian attempted to cross. The front of the pickup truck struck the pedestrian.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers and a Bay County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived quickly at the scene. Both immediately began performing CPR on the pedestrian until Bay County Fire Rescue and Bay County Emergency Medical Services arrived. Despite these efforts, officials pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene.
Authorities identified the victim as a 60-year-old man from Temple, Georgia. The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police did not report any injuries to the driver.
The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit has assumed responsibility for the investigation. The investigation remains ongoing.
