Gadsden County, FL – Four-Vehicle Crash Involving FHP Patrol Car on I-10

Gadsden County, FL (August 21, 2025) – A multi-vehicle crash Tuesday night, August 19,in Gadsden County involved a Florida Highway Patrol car, according to officials.

The crash happened at about 9:26 p.m. on Interstate 10 westbound near mile marker 167. Troopers reported that the accident occurred as law enforcement officers were investigating an earlier collision in the area. At the time of the crash, an FHP patrol car was parked on the north shoulder of I-10, facing west.

Florida Department of Transportation Road Rangers and Webber incident response teams were also on scene, closing the second westbound lane with traffic cones to keep drivers away from the initial crash site. Despite these safety measures, four vehicles became involved in the collision near the blocked-off area.

Officials have not yet confirmed how many people were injured in the wreck or the extent of those injuries. The incident caused major traffic delays as authorities cleared the roadway and continued their investigation.

The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate this case.

Our thoughts are with anyone who may have been injured in this multi-vehicle crash.

Auto Accidents on Northwest Florida

Auto accidents on highways like Interstate 10 are especially dangerous because of high speeds and heavy traffic. Even with traffic control measures in place, drivers sometimes fail to slow down or move over when they see emergency vehicles and cones on the road. This puts troopers, first responders, and other motorists at great risk.

Collisions involving multiple vehicles are often caused by common factors such as distracted driving, speeding, or failing to yield. Distracted drivers may not notice slowed traffic ahead, leading to chain-reaction crashes. Speeding reduces the time a driver has to react to cones, flashing lights, or stopped vehicles. Failure to change lanes or reduce speed when passing emergency vehicles is another frequent cause of serious accidents on Florida highways.

These crashes often result in devastating injuries that require extensive medical treatment. Victims may suffer from broken bones, concussions, or even catastrophic injuries that change their lives permanently.

Beyond physical harm, the financial burden of medical bills, rehabilitation, and lost wages can place tremendous stress on victims and their families.

Accident victims may be entitled to pursue compensation for these damages. Compensation can cover medical expenses, therapy and rehabilitation costs, lost income, pain and suffering, and the need for long-term care.

Because multi-vehicle crashes can involve several insurance companies disputing responsibility, it is important to have a skilled auto accident attorney to protect your rights. An attorney can investigate the crash, collect evidence, and negotiate with insurers to make sure victims receive fair compensation.
