Tallahassee, FL – Bicyclist Seriously Injured After Crash at Capital Cir SW & Southern St
Tallahassee, FL (January 6, 2026) - A Tallahassee bicyclist suffered serious injuries after a collision with a sedan on Monday, January 5, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Capital Circle Southwest and Southern Street.
Troopers said a 59-year-old Tallahassee man rode his bicycle eastbound on Capital Circle Southwest as traffic moved through the intersection. At the same time, a 60-year-old Tallahassee man drove a sedan westbound on Capital Circle Southwest. The driver slowed with traffic and entered the painted median to make a left turn onto Southern Street.
As the sedan began turning, the bicyclist entered the intersection. The vehicle struck the cyclist, throwing him onto the hood and then into the windshield. The force of the impact sent the bicyclist into the roadway, where he came to rest in the eastbound travel lane along with his bicycle.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and transported him to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Doctors listed his injuries as serious but not life-threatening. The driver of the sedan did not report any injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol handled the investigation with assistance from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office and Leon County Emergency Medical Services.
Troopers continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash, and the investigation remains active.
We wish the injured rider strength and healing as he recovers.
