Century, FL – Multi-Vehicle Collision Results in Several Injured at Hwy 29 & Bluff Springs Rd
Century, FL (January 5, 2026) – The Florida Highway Patrol continues investigating a multi-vehicle crash that injured five people on Saturday, January 3, in northern Escambia County. The collision occurred around 12:50 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 29 and Bluff Springs Road, south of Century.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 63-year-old woman from Century drove a GMC Terrain Denali eastbound on Bluff Springs Road. Investigators said she attempted to cross all four lanes of Highway 29 when she collided with a Ford Expedition that was traveling along the highway. The wreck caused injuries to multiple occupants.
Emergency responders arrived quickly after the crash. Escambia County Fire Rescue units from the Century and McDavid stations assisted at the scene. Deputies with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office also responded to help manage the situation and support first responders.
Medical personnel evaluated those involved in the crash. Three of the five people sustained minor injuries and required transport to nearby hospitals. Newman’s Ambulance handled the patient transports.
The crash caused temporary traffic disruptions along Highway 29. Authorities closed the northbound lanes for a short time while crews worked the scene and removed damaged vehicles. Traffic later resumed through a single northbound lane.
Troopers continue reviewing evidence and reports to complete the investigation.
Our thoughts are with everyone injured in this collision, and we wish them a smooth and full recovery.
Auto Accidents in the Florida Panhandle.2509080841510.png)
Busy highways like Highway 29 see frequent traffic from local drivers, commercial vehicles, and travelers moving through the Florida Panhandle. Intersections along these routes can become especially dangerous when drivers misjudge traffic flow or fail to yield the right of way. Even crashes involving moderate speeds can lead to injuries that disrupt daily life.
Across the Florida Panhandle, auto accidents often result in emergency medical care, missed work, and unexpected expenses. Intersections remain a common location for injury crashes due to crossing traffic and limited reaction time. Many injuries may appear minor at first but worsen over the following days.
Common injuries from intersection crashes include:
- Neck and back injuries caused by sudden impact
- Bruising and soft tissue injuries that restrict movement
- Head injuries, including concussions
- Fractures that require medical treatment and recovery time
Florida law allows injured individuals to seek compensation when another driver’s actions cause a crash. Depending on the circumstances, compensation may include medical expenses, lost wages, rehabilitation costs, and pain related to the injuries. Police findings and medical documentation often play a key role in these claims.
Insurance companies may contact injured parties quickly after a crash. Early statements or settlements may not reflect the full impact of injuries. A personal injury lawyer can help injured victims understand their rights before making decisions that can help protect their recovery and financial stability.
