Byrneville, FL – Three Injured in Rollover Accident on Hwy 168 Near Wawbeek Rd

Byrneville, FL (January 20, 2026) – Three people were hurt in a single-vehicle rollover crash that took place Monday afternoon near Byrneville. The crash happened on January 19 along Highway 168, between two intersections with Wawbeek Road.

Reports indicate a Ford Expedition was traveling west on the highway when it left the roadway for reasons that have not been explained. The vehicle struck a ditch and a culvert, then became airborne before landing on its side along the shoulder of the road. The violent movement caused serious damage to the SUV.

One woman remained trapped inside the vehicle for an extended period following the crash. Emergency units worked to free her by removing the windshield and cutting away the roof. The process took time due to the position of the vehicle and the extent of the damage.

The trapped woman and a 17-year-old girl were taken by ambulance to Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital for treatment. A second 17-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries and was flown to the hospital for urgent care.

Authorities have not shared what caused the driver to lose control.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

Our thoughts remain with those injured as they continue to receive care and recover.
