Fatal Auto Accident on I-10 Near Mile Marker 262

Madison Co., FL – Fatal Auto Accident on I-10 Near MM 262

Madison County, FL (September 9, 2024) – A 32-year-old man from Ocoee lost his life in a tragic crash on Interstate 10 Saturday afternoon, September 7.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the wreck happened just after 1:30 p.m. near mile marker 262 in Madison County. A red Mazda sedan and a trailer being towed by a pickup truck traveling eastbound collided.

The impact caused the trailer to detach and overturn, along with the utility terrain vehicle it was carrying. Both came to rest in the center median. The Mazda then veered onto the south shoulder, where it overturned and ejected the driver.

Emergency crews transported the driver to Madison County Memorial Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

The pickup truck’s driver and passenger escaped injury. Florida Highway Patrol troopers received assistance from Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Madison County EMS, and Madison County Fire Rescue while handling the scene.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim during this difficult time.

Fatal Auto Accidents in the Florida Panhandle

Fatal auto accidents in the Florida Panhandle highlight the dangers drivers face on major highways like Interstate 10.

High speeds, heavy traffic, and long stretches of roadway increase the risk of deadly collisions. When drivers or passengers are not properly restrained, the chances of fatal injuries rise dramatically.

Families who lose a loved one in a crash often face overwhelming emotional and financial challenges. Beyond the grief, they may struggle with unexpected medical bills, funeral expenses, and the sudden loss of income.

In these heartbreaking cases, Florida law allows families to pursue wrongful death claims to hold negligent parties accountable and seek financial relief.

Compensation in a wrongful death case may include:

  • Medical and funeral expenses – covering emergency care, hospital bills, and burial costs.
  • Loss of income and financial support – helping families who depended on the victim’s earnings.
  • Loss of companionship and guidance – recognizing the emotional void left by the sudden loss.
  • Pain and suffering – acknowledging the grief and mental anguish families endure.

Pursuing legal action may feel overwhelming, but the support of an experienced wrongful death lawyer can ease the burden. An attorney can investigate the crash, gather evidence, and guide families through every step of the legal process.
