Pedestrian Accidents in the Florida Panhandle
Pedestrian accidents remain a growing concern across the Florida Panhandle, especially in rural areas with limited lighting and fewer crosswalks. Victims of these crashes often suffer fatal or life-threatening injuries because they have no protection against the force of a moving vehicle.
Some common factors that contribute to deadly pedestrian crashes include:
- Low visibility at night – Darkness makes it harder for drivers to see people walking along the road, especially in rural areas.
- Speeding on highways – Higher speeds reduce reaction times and make crashes more severe.
- Impaired driving – Drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol may not notice pedestrians until it is too late.
- Failure to yield – Motorists often fail to give pedestrians the right-of-way, even in marked areas.
- Distracted driving – Looking at a phone or adjusting controls can take a driver’s eyes off the road long enough to cause tragedy.
When families lose loved ones in a fatal crash, they may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. These claims can help cover funeral costs, medical bills, and the loss of future income and companionship.
Speaking with a wrongful death lawyer in the Florida Panhandle can provide guidance and ensure the family’s rights are protected.
