Gonzalez, FL – Fiery Two-Vehicle Crash on US Hwy 29 Leaves 1 Dead, 3 Injured

Gonzalez, FL (October 13, 2025) – One person was killed and three others were seriously injured following a devastating two-vehicle crash on Saturday night, October 11, in Gonzalez, a census-designated place in Escambia County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 8:10 p.m. near Woodbury Circle along U.S. Highway 29. A sedan heading southbound at a high rate of speed crossed the median and slammed into a northbound SUV.

The impact caused both vehicles to catch fire. The passenger in the sedan, a 30-year-old man from Cantonment, tragically died at the scene. The driver of the sedan, a 28-year-old woman from Pensacola, suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Sacred Heart Hospital for emergency treatment.

The SUV’s occupants—a 72-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman, both from Flomaton—were also transported to Sacred Heart Hospital with serious injuries. Troopers worked to reconstruct the crash and temporarily closed portions of the roadway during the investigation.

Authorities continue to examine what led to the high-speed collision and whether impairment or distraction played a role.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of the victim. We also wish those injured a full and speedy recovery.
