Semi-Truck Crash with Critical Injuries on I-10

Walton County, FL - Semi-Truck Crash with Critical Injuries on I-10

Walton County, FL (December 10, 2025) - A man from Bonifay remains in critical condition after a serious crash on Interstate 10 in Walton County on Tuesday afternoon, December 9. The Florida Highway Patrol said the collision happened shortly before 4:30 p.m. as traffic moved eastbound.

Troopers reported that a semi-truck traveled east on Interstate 10 with a forty-three-year-old man and a thirty-seven-year-old woman from Fort Worth, Texas, inside the cab. As traffic slowed, the semi-truck reduced speed. At the same time, the Bonifay man drove east behind the tractor-trailer. His vehicle collided with the rear of the semi-truck and slid under part of the trailer.

The impact caused severe damage and trapped the Bonifay man inside his vehicle. Rescue crews worked for about two hours to free him. Once they removed him, paramedics rushed him to medical care in critical condition. FHP has not released his name. Officials have not reported injuries to the semi-truck occupants.

Investigators stayed on scene to document the crash and review what happened in the moments leading up to impact. The investigation continues.

We hope the injured driver receives steady care and makes a strong recovery.

Truck Accidents in the Florida Panhandle

Truck crashes on busy routes in the Florida Panhandle often lead to life-changing injuries. Tractor-trailers weigh far more than passenger cars, so even one rear impact can crush a smaller vehicle. Victims may face long hospital stays, surgeries, therapy, and months away from work. Families can also feel overwhelmed by medical bills and the uncertainty that follows a critical injury.

When a truck crash results in serious harm, injured people may have the right to seek compensation. The amount and type depend on the medical facts and the cause of the wreck. Common forms of compensation in Truck Accidents cases can include:

  • Medical expenses, such as emergency transport, hospital care, surgery, medication, and follow-up visits.
  • Future medical costs, including rehabilitation, physical therapy, home health care, or long-term treatment plans.
  • Lost income, which covers the pay a victim misses while they cannot work.
  • Reduced earning capacity, if injuries limit the ability to return to the same job or work full-time.
  • Pain and suffering, recognizing physical pain and the way injuries disrupt daily life.
  • Emotional distress, including anxiety, trauma, or sleep problems, after a violent crash.
  • Property damage, covering the repair or replacement of a vehicle and personal items damaged in the collision.
  • Out-of-pocket costs, like travel to medical appointments or required medical equipment.

Truck cases often involve complex evidence. Investigators may review driver logs, truck maintenance records, and company safety practices. In some situations, a trucking company, cargo handler, or maintenance contractor may share responsibility. Careful investigation can uncover these details and help victims pursue a fair recovery.

After a crash this severe, victims often need help protecting their rights while they focus on healing. A truck accident lawyer can investigate the collision, gather driver logs and safety records, and work with experts to show what caused the impact. They also handle insurance negotiations and fight for compensation that matches the full cost of recovery.
