Bristol, FL – Man Seriously Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on SR 20

Bristol, FL (August 21, 2025) – A three-vehicle accident on State Road 20 in Bristol left a 29-year-old man with serious injuries on Monday morning, August 18

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 10:20 a.m. in front of the Piggly Wiggly near Solomon Street. Troopers said a 64-year-old man from Panama City was driving eastbound in a merge lane next to another truck operated by a 48-year-old Panama City man. Both trucks carried passengers.

As the 64-year-old driver attempted to merge, his truck collided with the second vehicle, striking the passenger-side front panel. The impact forced the first truck into a counterclockwise spin before it crossed the center line into westbound traffic.

At that moment, another truck driven by the 29-year-old Bristol man struck the first vehicle. The collision caused the first truck to overturn onto its passenger side and land partially on top of the Bristol man’s truck.

The Bristol man suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Troopers confirmed that the drivers and passengers of the first and second vehicles sustained minor injuries. The roadway remained partially blocked while crews worked to clear the scene and investigate the wreck.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.

Our thoughts are with the Bristol man as he recovers.

Truck Accidents in the Florida Panhandle

Truck accidents in the Florida Panhandle, including Bristol and nearby Panama City, often involve serious injuries. Highways like SR 20 are busy routes where merging vehicles, large trucks, and heavy traffic create dangerous conditions. Collisions involving multiple vehicles, such as this one, frequently result in catastrophic injuries because of the force and chain reaction of impacts.

Accidents like these can occur for several reasons. Distracted driving is one of the most common causes, as even a glance at a phone can lead to a missed signal or unsafe lane change. Speeding makes collisions more violent and gives drivers less time to react to sudden changes in traffic. Failure to yield, especially during merges, is another leading cause of wrecks on two-lane highways. In addition, impaired driving and driver fatigue add to the dangers on Florida roadways.

Victims of serious accidents may face long hospital stays, rehabilitation, and time away from work. A crash that causes a traumatic injury, such as the one reported in Bristol, can leave lasting physical and financial consequences.

Families often struggle to keep up with medical bills and daily expenses during recovery. That is why pursuing compensation through a personal injury claim may be necessary. Victims may be entitled to recover damages for:

  • Emergency medical treatment and hospital bills

  • Rehabilitation and therapy costs

  • Lost wages from missed work

  • Pain, suffering, and emotional distress

  • Future medical care in cases of long-term injuries

Working with an experienced Panama City Beach truck accident attorney can help victims and their families secure the financial support they need. Attorneys can investigate the crash, gather evidence, and negotiate with insurance companies to make sure victims are not left with unpaid bills or denied claims.
