Escambia Co., FL - Teen and Man Seriously Hurt in Hwy 29 Crash

Escambia County, FL (May 16, 2025) – A serious two-vehicle collision involving a teen and an adult driver took place on the evening of May 14 in Escambia County, leaving both individuals hospitalized.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at the intersection of Highway 29 and Quintette Road. A 16-year-old boy from Cantonment was driving a silver Subaru SUV and failed to yield at a stop sign on Quintette Road. As he entered the intersection, the SUV moved directly into the path of a white Hyundai sedan driven by a 33-year-old man from Flomaton.

The Hyundai collided with the left side of the SUV. The impact caused the sedan to spin uncontrollably across the southbound lanes of Highway 29. The Subaru was pushed northbound into the grassy median along the highway.

Emergency crews arrived shortly after the incident to assist. Both drivers sustained serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment. The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation to determine all contributing factors in the crash.

We hope those injured in this accident recover quickly.

Car Accidents in Florida

Each year, thousands of crashes are reported across Florida, with a significant portion resulting in serious injuries or fatalities. According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, there were over 390,000 reported crashes in a recent year, leading to more than 250,000 injuries. These incidents can happen anywhere in the state and often involve failure to yield, distracted driving, and other preventable behaviors. Florida officials continue to emphasize road safety initiatives and driver awareness efforts to reduce these numbers.

When dealing with injuries after a crash, it’s important to understand the common outcomes and needs that follow such events:

  • Common Types of Injuries: Victims of vehicle collisions may suffer from injuries such as whiplash, broken bones, spinal trauma, or head injuries. Some injuries are immediately visible, while others—like concussions or internal bleeding—may take hours or days to present symptoms. Seeking medical attention right away is critical, not only for your health but also for your legal claim.
  • Rehabilitation and Recovery: Many accident victims require physical therapy, chiropractic care, or surgery. The recovery process can take months, affecting the ability to return to work or manage everyday tasks. Documentation of treatments helps build a strong personal injury case.
  • Loss of Income: Missing work due to injuries can lead to lost wages. When a victim is the primary earner in their household, this can strain the entire family financially. Accident claims can include compensation for current and future income loss.
  • Vehicle Repairs and Property Loss: Car crashes often result in significant damage to vehicles. If your car is totaled or in need of repairs, insurance claims may cover only part of the cost. Legal action may be necessary to recover the full value of your losses.
