Escambia Co., FL (June 24, 2025) – A motor vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 98 in Escambia County claimed the life of a 26-year-old man from Pensacola, according to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol. The collision occurred on Friday, June 21, and involved a red Honda SUV and a gray Kia sedan.

Investigators determined that the red Honda was traveling westbound on Lillian Highway when it unexpectedly veered into the eastbound lane. The vehicle collided head-on with the approaching Kia sedan, resulting in severe front-end damage to both cars. Emergency personnel responded swiftly and transported the Honda driver to Baptist Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead at 12:08 p.m.

The driver of the Kia, a 34-year-old man from Elberta, Alabama, sustained injuries but declined transport to the hospital. Authorities confirmed that U.S. 98 was partially shut down for several hours as troopers completed their on-scene investigation and cleanup crews worked to reopen the roadway.
