Pensacola, FL - Two Hurt After Crash on N Pace Blvd & W Lee St

Pensacola, FL (April 18, 2025) – A collision involving two vehicles sent both drivers to the hospital Tuesday morning in Escambia County. The accident took place on April 15 around 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of North Pace Boulevard and West Lee Street, according to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Authorities say one vehicle was traveling south in the left turn lane on North Pace Boulevard, preparing to turn onto West Lee Street. At the same time, another vehicle was traveling north in the outside lane of North Pace Boulevard. As the first vehicle attempted its left turn, it crossed into the path of the oncoming northbound vehicle, resulting in a significant crash.

Paramedics quickly arrived and transported both drivers to Baptist Hospital. One individual sustained critical injuries, while the other was reported to have serious injuries. The identities of the drivers have not yet been made public. Emergency personnel worked the scene for some time to clear the intersection and investigate the circumstances of the incident. The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash to determine whether citations or further action may follow.

We hope those injured in this accident recover quickly.

Car Accidents in Florida

Florida sees a high volume of motor vehicle accidents every year due to its large population and extensive road network. In 2023, the state recorded more than 394,000 crashes, according to FLHSMV. Among those, over 250,000 involved injuries and more than 3,300 were fatal. With major highways and busy intersections statewide, accidents can occur in an instant—often with serious outcomes.

Accidents like this can cause lasting impacts. Let’s take a closer look at some of the more common injuries people suffer in Florida vehicle collisions:

  • Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs): Head trauma is not uncommon in vehicle accidents. Even a seemingly minor impact can lead to a concussion or more serious injury if the head strikes a hard surface. These injuries may result in memory issues, personality changes, or long-term cognitive complications.
  • Fractures and Broken Bones: Bones in the arms, legs, ribs, and face are vulnerable during car crashes. Depending on severity, these injuries may require surgery and long-term physical therapy. Recovery can take months and sometimes result in reduced mobility.
  • Spinal Cord Damage: Spine injuries can be life-changing. A herniated disc might cause chronic pain, while more severe trauma could result in partial or complete paralysis. Immediate medical attention is critical to evaluate and manage such injuries.
  • Soft Tissue Injuries: Whiplash and muscle strains are often overlooked but can cause persistent pain and stiffness. These injuries often arise in rear-end crashes and may not be immediately apparent, which is why medical evaluation after a collision is so important.
