Santa Rosa County, FL - Fatal Crash on SR-87 N at Coldwater Church Rd
Santa Rosa County, FL (December 2, 2025) - A deadly two vehicle crash in Santa Rosa County left one man dead and another seriously injured early Tuesday morning, December 2. The Florida Highway Patrol said the collision happened just before 6 a.m. at State Road 87 North and Coldwater Church Road. Troopers and emergency crews rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a major impact involving two pickup trucks.
According to investigators, a 65 year old man from Milton drove a Mazda pickup southbound on State Road 87 North. At the same time, a 51 year old man from Navarre drove a Dodge pickup northbound on the same roadway. Troopers believe the Mazda crossed the center lanes and collided head on with the Dodge. The force of the crash caused severe damage to both vehicles.
Paramedics treated the victims at the scene and then transported them for advanced care. The Milton driver suffered fatal injuries and later died. Officials have not released his name yet while they notify family members. The Navarre driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital in Pensacola. The highway patrol has not shared an update on his condition, but they described the injuries as severe.
The investigation remains ongoing as the Florida Highway Patrol works to determine the full cause.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the loved ones mourning this loss, and we hope the injured man receives strong care and a full recovery.
Truck Accidents in the Florida Panhandle
Truck accidents in the Florida Panhandle can turn tragic in seconds, especially on rural highways where traffic moves fast in opposite directions. A head on pickup crash often leads to severe injuries or death because both vehicles absorb force at once. Families affected by these wrecks face emotional shock, medical decisions, and unexpected financial strain. That is why many people seek clear legal guidance early, especially when a fatality occurs and questions remain.
After a serious crash like this, victims and families may be able to pursue compensation such as:
- Medical expenses: This can include ambulance transport, emergency room care, surgery, hospital stays, medications, and follow up visits.
- Rehabilitation and future care: Serious injuries may require physical therapy, specialist treatment, mobility devices, or long term support.
- Lost wages: If an injured person misses work while recovering, they may seek payment for the income they could not earn.
- Reduced earning capacity: When injuries limit a person’s ability to return to the same job or work full time, compensation may address future income loss.
- Pain and suffering: Victims may seek damages for physical pain, emotional distress, and the lasting impact of trauma.
- Vehicle and property damage: Claims often include repair or replacement costs for damaged trucks and personal items inside them.
- Wrongful death damages: Families may pursue support for funeral and burial costs, loss of financial support, and the loss of companionship and guidance.
Because fault matters in these cases, a careful investigation can make a major difference. Evidence such as crash reports, witness statements, and roadway findings can help show why a vehicle crossed the center line.
Families also benefit from support when insurers move quickly to protect their own interests. A personal injury lawyer can handle communication, preserve key records, and fight for a result that reflects the true harm done.
