Florida’s business community has suffered a major blow. Although the courts have ruled that the secretive process used by the insurance industry to determine workers’ comp rates for Florida businesses was illegal, the billion-dollar increase is still moving forward. With their eyes squarely on their own profits, the insurance companies who benefit from this rate increase are resorting to the tired approach of “blaming the lawyers” so they can justify this baseless increase on Florida’s business community.
